近期，为了深入推动学校英语教学的扎实开展，助力学生英语学科核心素养的有效发展，增强学生国际理解意识，翠竹中学八年级英语组特组织学生开展英语课外阅读活动。学生在老师的带领下，打开经典英文读物，品味英语语言趣味，探索异国文化魅力，增强国际理解拓宽国际视野。

同学们在老师的推荐和指导下，利用空余时间，选择自己感兴趣的的材料进行阅读。此外，大家就自己最喜爱的书籍与班级同学进行了分享和探讨。

部分同学对于阅读有着自己独到的见解：

八（3）班唐金茂同学：

My favourite book is called The Miserable World. It’s a wonderful book written by the famous writer Victor Hugo. The main character is a very poor man. To keep his elder sister’s children away from danger, he stole some food from the shop, then he had stayed in jail for 19 years! It made him become a bad guy. He did many bad things. Later, he became kind and helpful. Finally, he became a respected man!

The story of the man really touches me. From this book, I know that don’t always keep yourself sad, but also be kind to the world. The world is hopeful. Everything will be OK!

八（5）班马浚釜同学：

Just as the saying goes, "Good books are good friends". I think reading is good for us. It usually takes me about eight hours to read books by different writers every week. My favorite type of book is novels. Among all the novels, I like Gulliver's Travel best.

Usually I borrow books from Changzhou library because there are all kinds of books in it. I talk with my classmates about reading. They can provide me a lot of advice on books.

Reading is good for teenagers. It can help us improve our knowledge. Also some great classical novels, such as the Hunchback of Notre Dame, will touch us a lot. Through reading, a whole new word is showed in front of me.

八（6）班全钊新同学：

My favourite book is Harry Potter---- a book written by J.K.Rowling, a British writer. There are seven books in the book series. It has been translated into 73 languages, with a total sales volume of more than 500 million. I like reading this book very much. Every week, I will spend more than two hours reading this book .The main character Harry is smart and brave. He dares to fight against the evil force. I like to communicate with others about this book. It opens a magic world to me.What’s more, I can learn a lot about English culture by reading the book.

英国著名作家弗朗西斯·培根曾说：“Reading makes a full man！”愿每一位同学都能在阅读中充实自我，探索世界，与书为伴，点燃梦想。
